Amazon is the lush one: broad, heart-shaped leaves in a rich mid-green, streaked with cream and yellow variegation that runs along the veins. The pattern is painterly rather than blocky, and no two leaves repeat it the same way.

Like the rest of the Teruno series it comes from Terunoworld, the small specialist breeding nursery in Japan, and it circulates even less widely than its siblings. Cuttings come up for sale rarely, and Canadian-grown ones almost never.

Every cutting is taken from my own healthy mother plant in Squamish, BC, with at least one viable node ready to root in water or moist soil. Photos are representative; variegation varies naturally between cuttings.

After it arrives

Rooting a Teruno cutting is genuinely easy: a glass of water, a warm bright spot, and a little patience. I wrote a step-by-step walkthrough covering the first hour, the first week, and potting up.
